ezWiFi secures pre-seed funding to help businesses make money with their WiFi

Who would have thought that a restaurant could make some additional bucks by selling their WiFi to customers all around? ezWiFi aims to create a sharing economy for WiFi via businesses by “enabling brick-and-mortar stores to make money by offering their customers Free WiFi.”

The startup is making waves already in Pakistan with partnerships with corporate giants like Unilever, L’Oreal and Jazz and is also hiring for many roles as they intend to rapidly scale across Pakistan to acquire more customers. After Pakistan, the startup intends to scale to Africa, South Asia and GCC region.

The investment round has been led by Iffi Wahla from E42 Ventures (US) with additional investments from angels like Naeem Zamindar (PK).

ezWiFi is being led by Sher Ali Khan, who intends to scale the startup by connecting the #nextbillion via his idea of sharing economy through WiFi. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Imperial College London and has also previously worked with Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley in the capacity of Tech Analyst and Software Engineer respectively.

Iffi Wahla from E42 Ventures remarked:

We are looking to build our presence in Pakistan as we see tremendous potential in what is still a nascent startup ecosystem. ezWiFi has us excited because it offers an opportunity to connect the masses to high-speed Internet while providing value to businesses. With the right investment, not just capital, but with people and infrastructure, we believe ezWiFi has the capability to not only capture the local market but go global and E42 is delighted to be a part of the process.

ezWiFi offers businesses a mobile and web application where they can view analytics, run promotions, build customer lists, collect feedback and manage multiple locations.
